Granny Greens Smoothie

grannygreensmoothieI like to start each workday with a smoothie or fresh squeezed  juice.  It gives me that extra boost of energy and guarantees that I get my fruits and vegetables in for the day.

One morning I had this gorgeous Granny Smith apple just sitting near my blender all alone. I cored and sliced the poor Granny.  I blended her with a little lime juice, an orange, frozen mango, almond milk, and spinach.  And Granny Greens was born!

Serves: 1-2

Ingredients
  • Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced into fourths

  • 1 lime, squeezed
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 huge handful of spinach, about 1½ cups packed
Instructions
  1. Place the almond milk into the blender first to prevent jamming. Add the apple, orange, and lime juice. Blend.
  2. Then, add the spinach. Blend until spinach is fully chopped.
  3. Lastly, add the frozen mango. Blend for another 30 seconds or until smooth.
  4. Garnish with a slice of lime.
